A Case of Torsion of the Wandering Spleen

Abstract
Torsion of the wandering spleen in an unusual cause of an acute abdomen, and is rarely diagnosed preoperatively.
Many different etiologic factors have been mentioned in reports of torsion of the wandering spleen. Multiparity and abdominal laxity is suggested as a cause of its torsion by Abell¢¥), while it is suggested by Woodward5~ an embryologic anomaly, absence of the lienorenal ligament, allows increased mobility of the splenic hilum.
The symptoms of the wandering spleen itself are usually mild, however, when torsion of the pedicle the symtoms are -acute and may resemble those of a severe abdominal catastrophe.
Splenectomy is the operation recommended for wandering spleen, whether complications are present or not.
The authors describe a case of torsion of the wandering spleen which appeared in 27year-old female, who underwent emergency splenectomy with good result, including reviews of literatures.
